Communications Coordinator

Position Summary

We are looking for a Communications Coordinator to join us starting June 2020 as member of our international team to take operational leadership in the areas of storytelling and communications of Social Impact Award (SIA). This position is based at SIA’s headquarter in Vienna, Austria.

 

About us

Social Impact Award, founded in 2009, is the world’s largest community of early-stage social entrepreneurs under 30. We run education and incubation programs in more than 15 countries in Europe, Africa and Asia to support early-stage social entrepreneurs in developing and implementing innovative business solutions to tackle the most important societal challenges of our times. We do so by hosting events and organizing workshops to raise awareness for social entrepreneurship, teaching the necessary skills to navigate from vague intentions to promising ventures, providing access to networks and promoting the best teams with the Social Impact Award.

As part of this evolution, we are now looking for an exceptional individual to join our international team as Communications Coordinator. This position will hold operational leadership in significantly evolving our current communications strategy and take responsibility in steering communication initiatives by SIA teams around the world.

Job Description

Content

  • Develop the editorial direction and set-up efficient structures for network-wide sourcing, production, and publication of compelling content and stories.
  • Edit and coordinate the international website, annual impact reports, and any further external channels or publications.
  • Further develop and oversee administration of internal communications resource center, internal knowledge base (playbook), and story repository.

Positioning

  • Improve and coordinate the execution of international communications strategy for current and potential new channels, activities and publications.
  • Manage, align and provide network-wide support for external brand positioning and ensure consistency in outgoing messages and representation.
  • Integrate and manage current online communication channels including particularly website, social media and photo/video channels.

Network Collaboration

  • Develop specific support practices and coordinate assistance for SIA teams on the topic of communications and storytelling.
  • Take an active role in international gatherings (including co-creative learning sessions with SIA teams to increase and leverage local communications capacity).
  • Provide support during the onboarding process of new SIA teams (e.g. webinars, communications-related advisory and consultation).

Team Engagement

  • Full member of the international team with engagement in overall strategy development and core responsibility for communications.
  • Integration into the organization’s holacracy structure, providing a framework for autonomy, agility, and purpose-alignment.
  • Main collaboration with and direct report to Global Managing Director, functional collaboration with other core team members and potential further contractors or project supporters.
  • General coordination and cooperation with international team and local network representatives expected.

Are we a match?

  • You have relevant work experience and demonstrated success in communications and/or journalism.
  • You have a natural passion for curating content and storytelling and are already immersed and up-to-date in the field of social impact and innovation.
  • You are proficient in English.
  • You have the ability to define an editorial direction and language for engaging content.
  • You have prior project management experience, can ensure reliable completion of assignments and can manage a project both virtually and across time zones.
  • You have advanced storytelling and presentation skills and experience in overseeing the production of print materials and publications as well as social media management.
  • You are supportive, active and reliable in your internal communication and able to manage different requests, topics and conversations at a time.
  • You are open-minded, self-reliant, and excited about being part of a diverse, fast-paced, global start-up environment.
  • You are able to demonstrate key components of the SIA approach: entrepreneurship, collaboration, innovation and exceptional execution ability.

 

Job Specification

  • Role: 40 hours per week
  • Position title: Communications Coordinator

  • Salary: EUR 30,000.00 gross per year (higher salary possible depending on seniority and experience)
  • Contract: Minimum 1 year with a 3 months probation period
  • Reporting: Direct reporting to SIA‘s Managing Director
