Become a Youth Council member

To be considered for the Youth Council, all SIA Alumni who participated in a local incubation are eligible for self-nomination. All SIA Alumni are able to cast their vote for the Youth Council candidates. 

Youth Council candidates can decide whether they want to run for one or two terms equivalent to one year. Members can serve up to two terms in a row, with a break required after that. Every year, 50% of the Youth Council members rotate out to keep input and perspectives fresh and relevant.

Who is an ideal candidate

  • SIA Alumni

    All Youth Council members must have participated in one of the local SIA incubation programs around the globe.

  • Shared Vision and Mission

    Youth Council members are passionate about SIA’s vision, mission, and values and are motivated to strengthen its global network.

  • Strong Communication

    They are strong communicators who can represent youth perspectives and are proactive in preparing for meetings. English fluency is a requirement.

The Election Process

Everything you need to know on how to become a candidate and the election process.

Important dates for the upcoming Election

  1. Self-nomination to become a candidate

    All SIA alumni can become candidates by submitting a short biography and video to the Youth Council coordinator. Everyone eligible will automatically receive an email with the self-nomination instructions and process.

  2. Voting of the Youth Council members

    All SIA Alumni and this years finalists can vote for their favourite candidate(s). Everyone eligible to vote will automatically receive voting instructions via email during the official election period.

  3. Announcement of elected Youth Council

    The newly elected Council is publicly announced and displayed on the Youth Council website.

  4. Online on-boarding

    The newly elected members will receive an onboarding to Youth Council and get a chance to connect to the other members.

  5. Meeting at the SIA Summit

    The Youth Council meets twice a year, the first get together of the newly elected Youth Council will be at the SIA Summit 2025.

  6. Yearly election

    Each year in September 50% of the Youth Council will rotate out in order to give 5 new members the chance to bring in their voices and fresh perspectives. All SIA Alumni are invited to self-nominate and vote for their favourite candidates in this period.
